KISH, Elaine Dorothy
KISH, Elaine Dorothy 86, of Tehachapi California, formerly of Palmdale died peacefully in her sleep at her home on January 2, 2013. Elaine was a long time resident of Palmdale where she and her husband established a home in 1960. Elaine was a local businesswoman representing the Avon products company as well as operating the 'Book Nook' used book store until closing it in the late 1990's. In 2009, she relocated to Tehachapi. Her husband, William David Kish, passed away in 1964, after having served in the USMC during World War II and Korea, and as a Deputy Sheriff for Los Angeles County. Following his death Elaine continued to make her home in Palmdale where she raised their four sons. Survivors include her sister Marilyn of Arlington, Ill.; son Charles and his wife Karyn Diane of Phoenix, Ariz.; son Steven and his wife Marilyn of Tehachapi, Calif.; son James and his wife Patricia of Charlottesville, Va.; son William and his wife Michelle of Vacaville, Calif. Elaine is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Elaine was a wonderful mother whose patience and wisdom guided her family through both good and difficult times. She was a terrific friend to the many, many people who knew and loved her. Elaine will be sorely missed by all. Per Elaine's wishes there will be no memorial services but will be a family celebration of her life 'at a time when it is warm'.
