GAYLORD-SMITH, Janet Mae (Limp
GAYLORD-SMITH, Janet Mae (Limpus) Passed in her sleep on January 13, 2013, in Lancaster, Calif., after a year-long battle with heart and kidney failure. She was born on February 25, 1946, in Glendale, Calif., to Richard and Ragnhild (Jensen) Limpus. She graduated from Hart High School in Newhall, Calif., in 1963. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She treasured her family, friends, the NASA space program, Bronco football and Rockies baseball. Colorado was home in her heart. She touched the hearts of all who knew her. Always a giver of time and love. She was patriotic and so very proud of her Navy Chief son. Her work at Rockwell Space Division was a labor of love making the AFRSI blankets for the space shuttles. The shuttle program and its people were 'family' to her. Recently, she worked in material handling and U2 bonded stock at Lockheed, with her start going back to the L-1011 days. Left to cherish her memory are sister Kay Limpus of Palmdale, Calif., son Sean Gaylord of Quartz Hill, Calif., daughter Melinda (Robert) Payne of New Castle, Colo., four grandchildren Samantha Gaylord, Michael Gaylord, Zachary Gaylord, and Harley Payne, and great- granddaughter Willow. Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Halley Olsen Murphy Chapel, Lancaster, Calif. In lieu of flowers, please donate to troop support efforts or Veterans programs.
