McDonald, James F., Jr.
McDONALD, James F. Jr. Was born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 17, 1932, to James, Sr. and Adah McDonald. His childhood and young adult home was in Concord, New Hampshire. He was a faithful Husband, Father, and Grandfather who truly demonstrated his faith in every area of his life. Jim was recruited by St. Michaels College in Winooski, Vermont with a full, four year football scholarship, and graduated with a BA Degree in Sociology. Jim rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel while serving 20 years in the United States Air Force, flying over 8,000 hours. During this time Jim graduated with honors, from Pepperdine University, earning a Masters degree in education. After his military retirement, Jim was employed by Antelope Valley College as the First Director of Admissions and Records for over 16 years until his retirement in 1993. Survived and missed greatly by his beloved wife of 52 years Peggy, son Michael, and daughters Peggy, Heather, Ellen, and Sara. Jim is also survived by his sisters Eleanor Valentino of Rome, Italy, and Irene Cotter of County Kerry, Ireland. he will also be missed by 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, plus nieces, nephews, and many lifelong friends. Viewing services will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Halley Olsen Murphy, Lancaster. A Celebration of life Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, December 28, 2012, at Sacred Heart Church, followed by a burial with Military Honors at Good Shepard Cemetery on 70th St. West between Avenues L & K. The family of James F. McDonald Jr., asks that in lieu of flowers, remembrances to him be made to the Paraclete High School James 'Jim' McDonald Jr. Scholarship Fund (make check payable to Paraclete High School) or the Antelope Valley College James 'Jim' McDonald Jr. Scholarship Fund (Make check payable to the AVC Foundation).
