SHARP, Donald L.
SHARP, Donald L. of Lancaster was born Nov. 19, 1933, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Died October 27, 2012, at home at the age of 78. Son of the late Warren and Fay Sharp. He leaves to mourn his passing, Kathryn of 46 years, his sons Jerry (Sarah) and Duane, his daughter Rhonda (Phil), his grandson DJ, his brother Kenneth (Lila), sister Lorene ( Jim), and uncle Forrest Warren. Don's 50 year work career started as child in San Diego delivering western union telegrams on his bicycle. After High school he worked at Roar Aircraft. Joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea. After his honorable discharge he continue at Roar. Then moving to the "Skunk Works" SR 71 Blackbird, then Huey's Aircraft working on the Huey for Vietnam war. Next came many years at Palmdale on the Shuttle. Then on to the B1, and finally retiring as Chief Mechanic for the B1, at Edwards AFB. The highlight of his career was accompanying the B1 ship to the Paris, France Air Show. To the pilots and crews, you honored his work, minus a few broken windows at home on test days. As the shuttle has come home, so too Don's mission is complete and Don's mission now is to go home. May he now soar with eagles. He enjoyed many years of attending the midget races, the open wheel at Ascot Park and more recently enjoyed NASCAR on TV, #5 car being his favorite. He loved to travel and visit family. Trips to Alaska and Florida being his delight. He loved to fish and he enjoyed doing wood working with many projects to include a beautiful music stand. Preceded in death by his Parents, daughter Kristine, brother Marvin, Irma Warren and Ed Sharp. Dear Donnie, You did it your way, we will love you forever.
