SLANINA, Rose Margaret (nee Powell) Born Nov. 2, 1932, in Liverpool, England where she was raised. Passed away Oct. 9, 2012, in Lancaster, Calif. She was a day nursery nurse until she met Bill Slanina who was in the U.S. Air Force and they began their life and family. Rose worked for the Muroc School District on Edwards AFB as a Special Education Aide for over 25 years. After retiring, she spent her time working in the United Methodist Churchs soup kitchen, preparing meals for the home- less. She also made quilts for shut-ins. She was a wonderful mother to her children who survive her Bill (Anne) of Lancaster, John (Susan) of Aurora, Colo., and Debi (Cliff) King of Lancaster, Calif., and a loving doting grandmother to her nine grandchildren, Katie, Natalie, Michael, Jennifer, Cameron, Corynn, Candace and Clifford. She is preceded in death by her husband William Slanina and grandson Charlie Slanina. She will forever be in our hearts until we meet again. 'Gods special Rose' Viewing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lancaster. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Lancaster United Methodist Church.
