ROSS, Irene A.
ROSS, Irene A. Born May 31, 1916, in New West Minister, British Columbia, Canada. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred H. Nasmyth. Irene 'grew up' with her brother, Louis in Seattle, where she graduated from High School. Irene became acquainted with her husband-to-be (Donald M. Ross) while working in Seattle. They were married in Dayton, Ohio, December 23, 1939, where they lived for 20 years, giving birth to daughter Ilene, and to son Gary. Irene was very active, for 20 years in the Evangelical Church, Vandalia, Ohio. She was the Sunday School Teacher for grades One, Two and Three. She also led the 'Opening Song Session' of those three grades, each Sunday for five years. Also, Irene was the Director of the 10 day Summer-School, which enrolled 95 to 105 Sunday School Children each summer for five years. Each year the local newspaper declared the annual event to be highly successful. After becoming a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church December 6, 1959, with her husband, Donald M. Ross, her primary interest in Church Service was simply attendance until she was physically unable to go to church. Irene died Friday, September 7, 2012. Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, September 20, 2012, at the Lancaster United Methodist Church.
