STEWART, Alton Thomas
STEWART, Alton Thomas Local business man, loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather is now in the loving hands of our Lord. He passed away on June 30, 2012, at the age of 97. He married his wife Edith in the 1930s. The couple moved from Texas to Hanford, Calif., where he worked in the naval shipyards in Long Beach during World War II. They moved to Lancaster in the mid 1950s where he owned several businesses and retired in the late 1960s. Alton loved camping and fishing and always wanted to eat dessert first (chocolate cake especially). He is survived by his grandsons Michael, Richard, Mark and Neil Stewart, great-grandson Michael, sister Alma Covington of Florida. Those that passed before him. Loving wife Edith of over 70 years, sons John Don Stewart and Carroll Dwayne Stewart. No one ever came to their house without being welcomed with a home cooked meal and a glass of ice tea. We will miss him and his keen sense of Texas style humor. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., with services starting at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2012, at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lancaster.
