ESLICK, Monte Neal
ESLICK, Monte Neal 65, of Lancaster passed away at his home in San Clemente with his wife and daughter by his side. Born in Woodlake, California, his family soon made the move to Lancaster. Monte attended Quartz Hill Elementary, Sierra School, Park View Jr. High, and graduated from Antelope Valley High School in 1965. He was an athlete all of his life, playing football and running track in high school, and playing tennis, golf and continuing to run into adulthood. After serving in the US Air Force, including one tour in Vietnam, Monte began work at Lockheed in Research and Development and remained there for 25 years, retiring in 1998. In 1997, Monte was diagnosed and treated for Pancreatic Cancer. He beat the odds and survived 15 years, cancer free. Monte is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cheryl Eslick, his daughter Erin DeFries (Michael DeFries), his granddaughter whom he adored, Maddie Lu, sister Nancy Firsick, brothers Terry & Ron Eslick, countless loving friends and extended family. A "Celebration of a Life Well Lived" will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2012, 12 p.m., at the Antelope Valley Country Club.
