WOOD, Virginia A.
WOOD, Virginia A. Born June 28, 1926, in Pueblo, Colo. Passed away on June 10, 2012, in Lancaster, Calif. In 1945, Virginia met the love of her life, James W. Wood (Woody) with whom she spent the next 45 years, mostly as an Air Force wife and mother, accompanying her husband on his assignments, including three tours at Edwards Air Force Base. Woody was a fighter pilot and test pilot for more than 30 years. They remained in the Antelope Valley after he retired from the Air Force as a Colonel. Virginia was an accomplished singer, poker player, and storyteller who also bred and raised poodles. She volunteered for many years at Antelope Valley Hospital. She is predeceased by husband James and survived by her three children Diane, Susanne, and Jim; granddaughters Stephanie, Michelle, and Rachel; great-granddaughter Sierra; and daughter-in-law Maria and son-in-law Bill. She was adored by her family and will be dearly missed. Virginia will be buried with her husband James in a family graveside service at Riverside National Cemetery.
