JOHNSON, Richard Dick
JOHNSON, Richard 'Dick' 87, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2012, in Lancaster, Calif. Dick was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley and has been living in Palmdale for 20 years, most recently at Rancho Village in Palmdale, Calif. Dick was a fun-loving, easy-going man who was loved by all he met. He had a warm personality that drew others to him. Dick was easy to befriend with his inviting smile and great sense of humor. Dick had a great work ethic and was well respected within his profession. Dick leaves behind his sweetheart Betty, with whom he spent 64 wonderful years. Together they had 5 children and cared for a host of foster children. Dick and Betty had an open-door policy in their home and became second parents to many. Dick was a devoted father to Linda, Rick (Anita), Bill (Naomi), Donnie (Sherry), and Jim. Dick is also loved by 7 Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren, countless other family members and friends. Dick was a decorated World War II veteran and also an active member of his community. A few of his positions include president of the Plasterers Local 795, an active member of the Motion Picture Local 2, President of the Advisory Board at the Palmdale Senior Center, and President of the Tumbleweed Card Club. Dicks life of love and service is an example to us all and one that will always be remembered. Services will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Halley Olsen Murphy , 3150 E. Palmdale Blvd, Palmdale CA. 93550.
