RICKMAN, Dana A. Beloved Husband, Father, and retired Los Angeles County Fire Captain passed away May 1, 2012, in Monument, Colorado, at the age of 58. Dana was born April 27, 1954, in Oakland, California. He and his mother later moved to Southern California where he attended Inglewood High School. Dana married his high school sweetheart Celine Fitzgerald in December of 1981. Pursuing his passion for metal and woodworking, Dana graduated with a B.A in Industrial Arts from Cal State Long Beach in 1982, while also working as a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy. For 35 years Dana served Los Angeles County as a lifeguard, sheriff's deputy, and firefighter. As a member of the Los Angeles County Fire Department's Urban Search and Rescue Team, Dana responded to both local emergencies and national disasters. In addition to the numerous commendations he received during his career, in 2008 Dana was named Firefighter of the Year. After 23 years of distinguished service, Dana retired as a Los Angeles County Fire Captain in 2010. Dana is survived by the love of his life Celine, his 3 sons, Brian, Dustin, and Damian, and his daughter Kimberly. The family asks that remembrances be made to the Los Angeles County Firefighters Memorial Widows and Orphans Fund in honor of Dana Rickman. Services will be held May 10, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Central Christian Church in Lancaster, Calif. followed by a reception at 11:30 a.m.
