JOHNSON, Rose 90, passed away on March 23, 2012, due to congestive heart failure. Rose was born on a frontier ranch in Mineral, Wash. to Stephan and Bertha (Fritz) Sokol February 24, 1922, and grew up as the middle child of 9 children. She married U.S. Navy Lieutenant Wilfred C. (Clem) Johnson in Philadelphia, Pa. in 1945. After WWII, they lived in Seattle, Wash. where son Kenneth was born in 1947. Later they moved to Los Alamos, N.M. where son Donald was born in 1952. Rose moved with her family to Lancaster in 1960 and remained in the Antelope Valley for 52 years. Rose was a homemaker until her children were grown then became a teachers aide in the Los Angeles County Special Education Schools. She was also a volunteer for both the Antelope Valley Hospital Auxiliary and Los Angeles County Library in Lancaster for over 30 years. After retirement, Rose and Clem spent many years traveling all over North America in their motor home and were members of the Lazy Daze Motor Home Club. Rose was an avid reader and exercise buff, remaining active with her exercise group right up to the time of her death. Rose was predeceased by her husband of 61 years in 2006 and her only grandchild, Brian Johnson. Rose is survived by her sons Ken (Linda) of Mineral, Wash., Don (Charlotte) of Solvang, Calif., brother Dick Sokol (Jutta) of Mineral, Wash.and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be at Joshua Memorial Park on March 28, 2012, at 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Mortuary Wednesday March 29, 2012, at 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by graveside services Thursday, March 29, 2012, at 10:15 a.m.
