SALAZAR, Ruben Alejo
SALAZAR, Ruben Alejo 76, of Palmdale California, passed on March 15, 2012, in Beverly Hills. He was born on July 17, 1935, in Palm Springs and graduated from Palm Springs High School in 1953. Ruben served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1958, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He is survived by his bride of over 50 years, Sophia, his son Paul, daughters Lisa and Leslie, grandchildren Cara, Michael, Melissa, Lindsey, Evan and Nico and his great grandson Ethan. Ruben worked as an air traffic controller from April 1959, and retired as an area supervisor on December 31, 1989, from the F.A.A. Los Angeles Center before working as a consultant for the F.A.A. Regional Office in Los Angeles. Ruben never met a stranger and always opened his home and heart to family and friends. His hobbies included playing guitar/ukulele, singing, dancing and mariachi music; he enjoyed cheering on his children/grandchildren in their sporting events/performances, camping and travelling with friends and family. His legacy will live in our hearts forever. A mass will be held Saturday March 24, 2012, 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church, 151 W. Alejo Ave in Palm Springs. Interment will immediately follow at the Welwood Murray Cemetery, 471 Chino Drive in Palm Springs.
