STOUT, Roy Duane Born June 7, 1924, in Los Angeles. Passed away Nov. 2, 2011. His parents were Lydia Buddemeyer and Carl Stout who divorced. Later, Lydia married Henry Hoekstra 'Blackie'. Roy joined the Navy in 1943. He was a member of the 7th Beach Battalion. They landed on Omaha Beach on his 20th birthday (the day after D-Day). He later married Betty Scott. Together they had 4 children, Fred, Jeanne, Donald, and Mary, and later, they adopted Sean McCarthy. Roys most enjoyable hobby was umpiring. He spent 3 years as a professional official for pro-baseball and pro-basketball during the early sixties. He was a Correction Officer for L.A. County Sheriffs Department. Roy and Betty joined the Lancaster Presbyterian Church in 1974. He was able to again umpire for fast-pitch mens and womens softball, for many years. Betty passed away in 1994, after 49 years of marriage. In 1997, Roy remarried. He spent over 14 years with Helen Keeton, leaving Helen here in Lake Elizabeth with many friends and family. Roy was loved by many and will be missed by many more. Graveside servies will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lancaster.
