FORBES, 'Harry' Stephen Giles Sept. 1, 1923 ~ Feb. 19, 2012 Harry was born in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Rosana Forbes, the youngest of thirteen children. Harry studied voice and drama at the Chicago Conservatory and Columbia University in New York City. He also had voice training with Antonio Meli and Emile Telmer of the Berlin Opera. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942, and was stationed in England where he met and married his beloved, Joan Mary Watts on July 4, 1945. After World War II, the couple moved to New York City. In 1951, he and Joan moved to California and he joined the LA County Sheriffs Department and continued to be active in performing with the Palmdale Desert Opera Theatre. After retirement he and Joan moved to Sun City, Ariz., where he became involved in the Sun City Caladonian Society and performed in the Sun City Players. He performed in such musicals as 'Tevye' from Fiddler on the Roof, 'Alfred P. Dolittle' in My Fair Lady, and 'Mr. Murdoch' in the Dominie in Brigadoon. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-seven years and his eight children; Angele Adams, Cecile Bertier, Diane McWilliams (Mac McWilliams), Heather Ang (David Ang), Christopher Forbes, Jacqueline Forbes, Jennifer Ramirez (Leonard Ramirez), and Gregory Forbes (Renee Forbes), twenty-six grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 23, 2012, at Halley-Olsen-Murphy Mortuary, 44802 N. Date Avenue, Lancaster, CA 93534. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2012, at St. Marys Church, 1600 E. Ave R-4, Palmdale, CA 93550.
