VanNORMAN, Robert E. Born October 22, 1936, in Kansas City, Kansas. Passed away on Feb. 15, 2012, in North Las Vegas, Nev., after a 3 year battle with melanoma. Bob is survived by his daughter, Treva VanNorman Foster of Dixon, Calif., her two children, his brother, John VanNorman of Lincoln, Calif., and his sister, Viola Wilson of Weatherby Lake, Mo. While in the Army Bob's gift for languages was discovered. He was sent to the Defense Language Institute to learn Russian, then stationed in Germany to work for Army Intelligence. While in Europe, he developed a life-long love of travel. After the service he went to the University of Kansas, graduating in 1963. He came to Lancaster and worked for the Antelope Valley Union High School District for 31 years, first as a Russian and German instructor, then later in administration. After retiring, he traveled the United States and the world. A memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Nathan Adelson Hospice:
