GORK, Martha (Mardi) Ann Born Oct. 13, 1949, in Illinois. Devoted wife and loving mother Martha has gone home to be with Jesus Christ on Jan. 14, 2012. She lived in Illinois until high school then moved to the San Fernando Valley during high school graduating from Simi High School. She went to California State University Northridge (CSUN), Point Loma University and Walden University. She has lived in the Antelope Valley for 33 years. She retired from Lancaster School District in June 2010 after 25 years of service working at Sierra Elementary, Piute Middle School and part-time at Antelope Valley College. She enjoyed puzzling, creating stained glass pottery, riding Harley Davidson motor cycles with her husband, reading, writing, playing and teaching flute and collecting angels. She published several books and educational articles, was a Mentor teacher, Master Teacher, Curriculum Developer and received her PhD. Martha loved her family and enjoyed traveling and the arts. Survived by her husband Glenn, son Matthew of San Jose, Calif., son Brian (Karen) of Lakewood, Calif., mother Nancy Miller Sandoval of Seattle, Wash., aunt Shirley Payne of Grass Valley, Calif., cousin Lynne Graydon of Grass Valley, Calif. Services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Grace Chapel, Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Desert Christian School Financial Aid Fund. Arrangements entrusted to Halley-Olsen-Murphy, Lancaster.
