GILLESPIE, Martha Ann Formally of Palmdale, Calif., passed away on December 18, 2011, at her home in Silver Springs, Nev., following a short bout from her second round of lung cancer. Martha was born on September 25, 1937, in Corpus Christi, Texas, the eldest of three daughters born to Orville and Eva M. Hoover. Her family moved to Topanga Canyon, California in 1944. She graduated from Canoga Park High School, Canoga Park, Calif., in 1955, and married her childhood friend, James Harold Gillespie on January 21, 1956. Together they raised four boys in Reseda, Calif. Martha and Jimmy moved to their 'mountain" in Palmdale, Calif., in 1983, and loved the simple life it brought. They were married for 50 years before James' death in 2006. She worked as a bookkeeper for Mason and Mason in Glendale, Calif., for 30 years before retiring in 2007. After retiring, Martha moved to Silver Springs, Nev., with her sister, Sue Dailey. The two travelled and had many adventures together. Martha loved reading, enjoyed bowling, was an excellent seamstress and loved her gambling. Martha is survived by her two sisters; Nancy (Dave) Pichette, Sue Dailey; her four sons Ð Richard (Kathy) Gillespie, Rodney (Michelle) Gillespie, Robert Gillespie, Reed (Abbie) Gillespie; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren (and counting); and many other nieces, nephews and relatives. Martha will be interned with her husband on January 21, 2012, at Oakwood Memorial in Chatsworth, Calif. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. There will be a Celebration of Life held at 3 p.m., at BRC Sands Bowl - 43233 N. Sierra Hwy., Lancaster, CA 93534.
