ENGER, Gerald 'Joe' 86, was born in Vernal, Utah, September 14, 1925. Died January 14, 2012, in the Antelope Valley, where he has lived for the last 40+ years. Joining the Marines at 17, he fought bravely in the Pacific Theater of World War II. After the war, he joined the LA County Sherriffs Department. He served 32 years in various roles throughout the county and as Captain of the Mira Loma Detention Center, he met his wife of 34 years. They went on to raise 3 children. He was a beloved and devoted husband, a loving and involved father, and a fun grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Linda, his three children Bruce, Micah and Taysa, his two grandchildren Leif and Taya, and his brother, Phil. Graveside services will be at 12 p.m., Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Joshua Memorial Park. Arrangements by Halley- Olsen-Murphy, Lancaster.
