GAHAN, JOANNE WHIDDEN
GAHAN, Joanne Whidden Passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 3, 2011, in Lancaster, California. She was born on October 5, 1950, at St. Vincents Hospital in Los Angeles. Joanne was a life long resident of the Antelope Valley. Her parents, Austin and Catherine Whidden, were also long time residents of Lancaster. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic Grammar School and Paraclete High School. She also attended University of Portland in Portland, Oregon. She spent the last several years taking responsible, excellent and compassionate care of the elderly, the infirmed and the disabled. Joanne had a soft spot in her heart for animals of any kind. She was the ultimate caregiver and showed an enormous amount of kindness to those in need. Joannes family was so important to her. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Jim Gahan, of Quartz Hill. Her sisters, Patricia Whidden Cronin of Aptos, and Barbara Whidden Carey of Portland, also survive her, as well as her nieces and nephews Tim and Eileen Landon, Elizabeth Carey, Brian Cronin, Kevin Cronin and great-niece Peyton Marie Landon. She leaves cousins Mary Lynn and John Askin, John and Laura Stege, Lorraine Stege Nalley, Sally Stege, Steve and Rose Wherry and their families. In addition, she leaves dear and caring friends Ron and Pat Hanson and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents Art and Clemie Stege and Austin and Helen Whidden, her aunt and uncle John and Charlene Stege, and her brothers-in-law Mike Carey and Jim Cronin. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 12, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lancaster. Burial to follow at Lancaster Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mumaw Funeral Home .
