ARTHUR, Kay M. Kay was born on April 21, 1937, to Ward and Mary Colgrove in Becker County, near Ponsford, Minnesota. She graduated from Hibbing High School, Hibbing, Minnesota, in 1955. She died on October 15, 2011, in Las Vegas, Nev., after a brief but courageous battle with lung cancer. She met her husband of 53 years, Lloyd, in Santa Monica, after he served in the Navy. They married shortly thereafter. Kay worked for Rockwell International for a number of years at Palmdales Plant 42, and was proud to be a member of the team that built the Space Shuttles. She was a UAW representative for Local 887 for many years. She was preceded in death by a sister, Carole, and by her parents. Kay is survived by Lloyd, their daughter, Kimberly and her husband Jim Turner of Memphis, Tenn. a brother, Bob Colgrove (Hilda) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kelly Colgrove (Joan) of Palmdale, Calif., as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Sassy, who provided many moments of joy. She had a great zest for life and loved good company and conversation, and always had original observations about the world around her. She also loved the beach and the sun, casinos, shoe shopping and people watching. Kay will be missed by her family and friends, and left them with countless warm memories. At Kays request, no services were held. Because of her love for animals, especially dogs, those wishing to do so, can make a donation to an animal shelter or rescue organization.
