GUTIERREZ, Ramon Soliz Born Oct. 20, 1923, in Santa Cruz, Chihuahua, Mexico. Passed away Oct. 17, 2011, in Rosamond, Calif. Ramon came to the United States in 1941, helping to boast manpower during World War II. He worked as a miner in the Silver Mines of New Mexico. He later worked in Del City, Texas ginning cotton. He also worked as a harvester following the crops from California to Michigan. During this period he learned to appreciate the land and gained a love of gardening and self reliance. He came from a strong Catholic background and learned to love the United States. He returned to Mexico and married Virginia Madrid Guerrero in 1952. He applied for permanent citizenship in the U.S. and was granted a passport in 1958, when he immigrated to Las Cruces, New Mexico. His wife and 3 children followed in 1960. In 1961, the family moved to the Antelope Valley where Ramon worked for Forrest Godde, and Butch Godde. Ramon has always been, a strong man and stead fast believer in integrity. He believed in the family. He was a kind and generous man. Always available to help the less fortunate. He was proud of his family and children. He once said his biggest accomplishment was his wife and children. The jewels of his crown would be all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved them all. He is survived by his wife Virginia Gutierrez (Madrid), four children, Mario Gutierrez of Rosamond, Calif., Rudy Gutierrez of Lancaster, Calif., Ellie Harvey (Gutierrez) of Rosamond, Calif., and Dora Quintana (Gutierrez) of Manteca, Calif., grandchildren Audon Quintana, Angela Talbert, Terri Gutierrez, Bryana Gutierrez, Claire Garcia, Gabriel Gutierrez, Cristina Gutierrez, Andrea Gutierrez, Lizette Quintana, Sarnana Soltana, Delia Quintana, Mario Gutierrez, RJ Gutierrez, Chris Gutierrez and Averil Kenndy-Gutierrez, and 8 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, October 21, 2011, with Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass will be held at 10 a.m., at Halley-Olsen-Murphy, 44801 N. Date Ave, Lancaster. Burial Service to follow at Good Shepard Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster.
