SHAW, Dr. William B. Dr. Shaw was called to glory early Saturday morning October 1, 2011, at 6:20 a.m., under the care of Americana Care Facility. As soft-spoken as he was, Dr. Shaw was an avid community activist. He made numerous contributions to Antelope Valley communities of Palmdale, Lancaster and Sun Village, California. He was a life time member of the 'Friends of Jackie Robinson County Park' and also started the Head Start program in the Antelope Valley, in the Sun Village Community. Dr. Shaw is survived by his devoted wife of over 54 years Thelma Shaw, two sisters; Nellie Shaw of Oakland, California and Alice Peterson (Gerald Peterson) of Altadena, California, and a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, community leaders and most of all his beloved fraternity brothers 'Kappa Alpha Psi.' Visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m., Friday, October 7, 2011, at Hicks Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Living Stone Cathedral of Worship, Sun Village, Calif., with the Reverend Mary Jamerson Polk, officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Mortuary, 944-4595.
