HARRIS, JERRY EUGENE
HARRIS, Jerry Eugene 70, died at home in Mission Viejo and went to be with the Lord on September 9, 2011. Born December 2, 1940, in Owensboro, Ky., to Orville and Neva Harris, he was married for 50 years to his sweetheart, Diane. Preceded in death by their son, Michael, Jerry is survived by their daughter, Michele (Mike) Chochrek. The family he loved included grandchildren Ashley, Amanda and Connor Chochrek, and Wyatt Harris; three sisters, Ruth (Paul) Medler, Sheila (Dan) Bendik, and Jennifer (Jim) Halverstadt; brothers-in-law Richard (Gail) DeBurgh, and Douglas (Ann) DeBurgh as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Jerry was a craftsman and a sportsman who loved hunting and fishing. His career in aerospace spanned from Minuteman and Apollo, through the Space Shuttle. The survivor of many health challenges, including 2 heart transplants, he was nicknamed the Timex Man as he took a licking and kept on ticking. Viewing will be held at 9 a.m., followed by a service at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, 808 E. Lancaster Blvd, Lancaster, CA 93535 (661) 942-8125.
