DEAKIN, JOYCE ELAINE
DEAKIN, Joyce Elaine (Patterson) Passed away on September 10, 2011, in Lancaster. Born April 16, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas, Joyce moved to the Antelope Valley in 1955, and graduated from A.V. High School in 1962. Joyce worked at Edwards AFB where she met John R. Deakin, her husband of 48 years. Joyce retired from Lockheed in 2000 after 25 years of service. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them more than anything else. She also enjoyed reading, traveling, and she LOVED going to Las Vegas. She was a great fan of Elvis Presley, seeing many of his shows over the years. She was also involved in Little League when her children were young. She is survived by her husband John R. 'Deak' Deakin, her parents Marjorie and Bob Smith, son John (Sharman) Deakin Jr., daughter Susan Deakin, grandchildren Bridgett, Chance, Michael, Shane, and Jenni Deakin, Breanna and Josh von Muegge, Crystal and Danny Silva and great-grandchildren Aidan, Layla, and Gabriel, brother Duane (Carol) Davis, sister Sandy (Greg) Reeves, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, with services at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, both at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lancaster. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
