PACE, LEROY LEE
PACE, Leroy (Lee) Born June 26, 1926, in Barstow, Calif. Passed away July 26, 2011, in Lancaster, Calif. He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Shirley M. Pace and his three sons, Michael (Julie), Mark (Jana), and Steven. He also leaves his sister Uletta Upson, and four grandchildren, Brett (Veronica), Adam, Logan, and Rachel as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Lee was preceded in death by his parents Clem and Clara Pace, sister Eldora Irving and brother Lynn D. Pace. Lee served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Division during World War II, and re-listed again to serve his country during the Korean War. He loved electronics, and the early years of supersonic aviation, and worked in that capacity for several years. He retired from NASA after more than 25 years of service. He was involved in the early X-15 projects through the early Space Shuttle program. Lee was also an accomplished artist, painter, and carver and has left his family a lifetime legacy of art work to enjoy and remember him by in the years to come. Lee was a wonderful loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and will be deeply missed. We would like to thank his caregivers from Hoffmann Hospice who took such good care of him during the months he was at home. They were always there for us.
