She graduated in 1923 - the first of four generations to graduate from AVHS. Her granddaughter, Trish Lockhart was the principal of the school from June 2006 to March 2011. She married Alfred Earl Jones in 1926. They had a very short honeymoon, and started their marriage with 25 cents. She and Earl raised their four children in Palmdale. Upon retirement, they traveled across the states several times before settling in Hemet, Calif., Following Earls death in November 1986, Ruth returned to the Antelope Valley to be near her children. She loved to play cribbage. She didnt miss many of the LA Dodger baseball games on TV. She always voted, and in the early years helped on the Election Boards, counting ballots by hand until early the next morning. She never forgot a birthday, and most cards contained a hand written note in it, in spite of very deformed hands from arthritis. She did that until she reached 107, and her health started to decline. She never complained, and had a smile for everyone she met. Her impact on her family and anyone who met her will never be forgotten. In addition to her parents and husband of 60 years, she was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, and one grand-daughter.
