THORUSEN, BLANCHE MAXINE
THORUSEN, Blanche Maxine Much loved mother of 3 sons; went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 24, 2011. Born July 12, 1920, in Antioch, Nebraska, Blanche taught school and worked for the railroad during World War II, a part of the greatest generation. Immediately post war, she worked on the Cachuma Dam project in Santa Barbara, where she received a special award for devising the payroll system. She was widowed at age 39 and raised 3 boys as a single mom. During this time, she was a court clerk in Santa Barbara, serving first in the municipal court and then in the superior court. She retired to Idaho, where she was a long-time member of the DAR and active in her church. She recently returned to Southern California to be with her eldest son. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Lancaster New Life Nazarene Church.
