SCHWAKE, Eunice Maxwell Passed from this life into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 22, 2011, in Lancaster, Calif. Eunice was born December 16, 1912, to Mary Lucy (Jenkins) Kelley and Ira L. Maxwell in Fristoe, Missouri. Eunice married Daniel F. Schwake Oct. 1, 1933. Dan worked 23 years for the Edison Co., and preceded her in death in 1969. She is survived by her son Melvin Schwake of Los Angeles, two daughters, Joyce (Schwake) Meenen of Seattle and Sonya (Schwake) Kaiser of Lancaster, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Eunice moved to Lancaster in 1927, graduated from AV High School in 1931. She lived and worked at the Mumaw Funeral Home before she was married. She was an active member for many years of the First Baptist and Central Christian Churches of Lancaster. When Sears opened their first store in AV in 1957, she was one of their first employees, working 25 years in the catalog department. She enjoyed her family and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is remembered for her generosity, hospitality, friendliness and great sense of humor. Eunice trusted in the words of Jesus, who said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her favorite charity, Grace Resource Center, 45134 N. Sierra Hwy, Lancaster, CA 93534.
