HOLLOWAY, Donald 'Wayne' Age 78 was born October 4, 1932, in Winthrop, Washington. Passed away May 24, 2011, in Lancaster where he has lived for the past 57 years. In his youth he worked as a ranch hand in several western states until he enlisted in the Air Force in 1951. Wayne served in the Air Force during the Korean War ending his stint at Edwards Air Force Base. After the Air Force, he earned his California Real Estate license in 1957. In 1959, Wayne joined Chic Sale Real Estate and quickly became a partner in the firm, which then expanded to three offices. Following the passing of his partner in 1965, Wayne reorganized the company and established Valley Realty. He was active with the Antelope Valley Board of Realtors in the early 1960's, serving as president of the association in 1965 to 1966. Throughout his 54 years in the real estate business, he promoted the growth and economic prosperity of the Antelope Valley. Wayne served as a director with the 'Lancaster Economic Development Corporation' (LEDC), a non-profit organization created to help bring new jobs to our region and primarily responsible for the development of the Lancaster Business Park in the 1990's. He was a member of the Lancaster Elks Lodge BPOE 1625 for 48 years. Wayne continued to be an avid horseman throughout his life and participated in, Calf Roping, Team Penning, and raising Texas Long Horns until the 1990's. His new hobby was raising pecans, pistachios, and other fruits. Wayne is survived by his wife LouAnn, two daughters and two sons, Cindy (Gary) Schaff, Harvey (Denise) Holloway, Kenneth Holloway, Brenda Holloway- Donegan, three step-daughters and one step-son, Vickie (Jack) Blankenburg, Debra Carlson, Michael Carlson, Shari (Lonny) Aevermann, three half-sisters, and one half-brother, Jacque (Dale) Lowery, Pat (Jerry) Lowery, Debbie (Dennis) Vermillion, John Holloway, and eleven grandchildren. A Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 6, 2011, at Lancaster Elks Lodge, 240 East Avenue K, Lancaster.
