RIEDL, ROBERT BOB
RIEDL, Robert 'Bob' On September 22, 1931, the world became a brighter place; Bob was born in a log cabin in Yakt, Montana. He left peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at the age of 79. His smile could light up any room. Bobs love for his family, and for life, was abundant and apparent in everything he did. He was loved and admired by all who knew him. Spending time with his family and friends was what was most important to Bob and what gave him the most enjoyment. The date of his birth nor the date of his death are what matter, its about the dash, as it represents Bobs life and how he lived it, which was always to the fullest. Bob graduated from Antelope Valley High School in 1949. He attended Antelope Valley College and shortly after enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served on the USS Boxer during the Korean Conflict. After his service to our country, Bob took a position with the Los Angeles County Road Dept., from 1955, until he retired in 1990. After he officially retired, Bob took a part-time job for fun working as a courier for First Valley National Bank. In the early part of Bobs life he spent many hours on the field playing and excelling in fast pitch softball. Bob also enjoyed throughout his entire life, a good game of blackjack. He was active in the Palmdale Elks Lodge #2027. Bob is survived by his beautiful wife of 56 years, Jean, his daughter Crystal Adams (Mark), his son, Kenneth Riedl (Gina), his beloved grandchildren, Shawn, Ericka and her husband Brian, Blythe, Courtney, Robbie and Zachary, and his sidekick and four-legged best friend Rebby. Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynne Fjeld, his parents, Alfred and Emma Riedl, his siblings Flora, Virginia and Al. He leaves behind other family members and friends that will continue to love and miss him. There is a new angel in Heaven and for those of us here, he will be forever in our hearts until we meet again. A Memorial Service in Roberts honor will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Chapel of the Valley Mortuary Palmdale. Interment will be private. Email condolences to the family at cotv@sbcglobal.net. Chapel of the Valley Mortuary, Palmdale Directors.
