McELDOWNEY, CHARLES JEAN CASEY
McELDOWNEY, Charles Jean 'Casey' Passed away in Deerfield Beach, Fla., on March 24, 2011, just one month short of his 88th birthday. He was born April 24, 1923, in Bradford, Ohio, to parents Lawrence and Mabel (Ewry) McEldowney. During World War II, he served as a Rifleman in the U.S. Army Company L 414th Infantry, seeing action in Northern France and the Rhineland, and receiving two bronze stars and a Purple Heart. He spent his civilian career with the Federal Government, retiring in 1980, as Civilian Personnel Officer at Edwards AFB, Calif. In retirement, he and his wife Vivian traveled extensively throughout the world, including over 60 cruises. He enjoyed lunch with friends at the Lancaster Senior Center, which included philosophical discussions and Jumble puzzles. Casey is survived by his wife, Vivian Barr McEldowney; sisters Josephine Fields and Mary Bennett; five children, Barbara Webb, June McEldowney, Patricia McEldowney, Tina McEldowney and William McEldowney; Vivians children, Linda Quinby (Dave) and Gary Barr (Susan); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son Charles Jr., a sister, and a brother. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at New Hope Community Church, 405 East Ave J, Lancaster, Calif. Pastors John Tigner and Ryan Parish will officiate.
