Obituary Notices and Memorials

RITENOUR, David T. 1933 ~ 2011 On March 23, 2011, we lost a wonderful, caring, funny and hard working man. Writing this has been impossible because we expect to see him walk in the back door after puttering around in his beautiful garden. He was born in Virginia in 1933, to Bobbe and Katie Belle Ritenour. As a young teen he moved to California where he met his sweetheart for life, Sharleen. They married in 1951, had 2 children, Debbie and Dave. Then later along came Jim, Debbie's cowboy, a man who is also our son and Papa to some of our great-grandchildren. David will always be Grandpa to Jake, Addie and Alyssa and great-grandpa to Ryan, Tyler, Lindsay, Lily, Adrian and Connor. He is also survived by his brothers Vic (Mo) and Leo (Charlotte). He brought his family to the Antelope Valley in 1957, as a young, proud CHP Officer where he served for 23 years. He never stopped telling his CHP stories. Some funny and some so sad he could never forget them. Then he retired to become one of the best landscapers in town owning Thunderbird Landscaping. Thanks so much to the CHP officers who came to see him on his last day and many thanks to all of the wonderful people at Hoffman Hospice and to Chapel of the Valley Mortuary. Dave wanted no services until his beloved Sharleen could be with him. Then Debbie and Jim know what to do. Goodbye Honey- we'll all try our best to live the kind of life you would want us to. Your Loving Family.
