HAWKE, Phillip P. Born August 23, 1931, in Van Nuys, Calif. Passed away March 9, 2011, in Lancaster, Calif. He grew up in the Antelope Valley and was a 1949, graduate of Antelope Valley High School. While in school he was President of FFA, as a child he worked on Avens Ranch. He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy, while in the Navy he was a Gunners Mate 2nd Class on (CV21) USS Boxer. He volunteered for many years in 4-H and FFA while his children were involved. He worked for the L.A. County Road Department retiring in 1993. Survived by his wife of 36 years Barbara Hawke, sons Darrell Hawke (Suzie) of Lancaster, Calif., SPC. Sidney E. 'Guy' Hawke (Kris) of Lancaster, Calif., Larry G. Hawke of Keller, Texas, daughters Phyllis Chaffin-Gill (Donny) of Beaver, Oklahoma, Julia Hawke of Greeley, Colorado, Regina Coon (Jerry) of Ozark, Arkansas, grandchildren Somer Hawke, Ashley Hawke, Chelby Hawke, Kieth Hawke, Brandon Hawke, Tiffany Robertson, Tosha Chaffin, Tyler Gill and Andrea Marshall. Also survived by other family members Janice, Connie, Kari, Jeff and Jeremy. Preceded in death by Kieth Colby, granddaughter Tabitha 'Tabby' Chaffin, Jack Hawke and Alton Hornback, parents Sidney and Julia Hawke, grandparents Ernest and Mamie Townsend and Bert and Tillie Hawke. Viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2011, Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2011, both at Halley-Olsen-Murphy, Lancaster.
