LANNING, Bernard 'Bernie' Warren Born July 30, 1944, in Virginia. Passed away February 27, 2011, at Palmdale Regional Medical Center. He grew up and attended school in Georgia. Served in the United States Air Force, as a Master Sergeant, he retired after 20 years of service. He has lived in the Antelope Valley for 3 years. He was a Military Service Field Engineer, working for 25 years with GE. Enjoyed golf (5 hole in one), woodworking, cooking and fixing up cars. He was a devoted husband, and father to 5 children. Survived by his wife Suzanne H. Lanning, sons, Bernard Edward Lanning of Rosamond, Calif., Richard James Lanning of Rosamond, Calif., daughters Elizabeth Geer (Chris) of Eclectic, Ala., Rebecca Fillinger (Joshua) of Palmdale, Calif., Kimberly Lanning-Bell (Steve) of Independence, Ore., grandchildren Christopher M. Geer Jr., Joshua Geer, Ethan Geer, Kayton, Geer, Madison Fillinger, Degan Fillinger and Aiden Bell. Also survived by his brother James Lanning of Georgia and sister Edna Parks of North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Bedie Lanning. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lancaster.
