BURNS, EVELYN ANGELA
BURNS, Evelyn Angela Born July 27, 1920, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Passed on to Heaven on January 8, 2011, in Beaumont, California. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Kenneth Burns, sisters Marge, Jean, Edith, and her brother Henry Sciulli. Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Susan Stout and her children April, Christine, and Joey; Kathie Jung and her husband George and their sons Sky and Shane; Mary Ann Elder and her husband George. After retiring, Evelyn became a professional portrait painter. Painting was her passion and her favorite place to set up her easel and paint was outdoors at the beach or in the mountains. She could paint everything from sailing ships and seascapes to flowers and landscapes, but painting portraits of Native Americans was her spirits calling. Her paintings were on display in galleries, museums, and local businesses in Oak Glen, Redlands, and throughout Riverside County. Evelyn taught painting at many schools, hospitals, and in her home. She belonged to, The San Gorgonio Pass Artists, The Allied Artists of Antelope Valley, and The Antique Car Club of Cherry Valley with her husband Don; she also belonged to The Beaumont Friends of the Library, and the San Gorgonio Hospital Auxiliary. At Evelyns request there will be no memorial service. She wished to be remembered by her artwork. Instead of flowers, friends and family are asked to make donations to the Alzheimers Association (www.alz.org).
