CAIN, Dennis W. Age 89. Dennis passed away Jan. 12, 2011, at the Veterans Hospital of Loma Linda, Calif.; the last of 8 brothers and sisters. Born Nov. 22, 1921, in Rensselaer, Ind. Dennis graduated from high school there in 1942, and immediately upon graduation entered the United States Army. He served as Sergeant Major in Korea, Japan and the Philippines until he was honorably discharged in 1946. Dennis married June Jordan in 1948. They had been married 49 years when June preceded Dennis in death in 1995. They had three children Robert of Lafayette, Ind., Michael of Riverside, Calif., and Douglas who passed away in 1992. Dennis had 12 grandchildren, Charles, James, Matthew, Mike, Jeff, Holly, Angela, Debbie, Bill (passed away 2005), David, Patrick and Megan. He had 23 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Dennis resided in the Lancaster ~ Palmdale area for the past 26 years. He is survived by his dearest friend and companion Margaret ('Peggy') Risley of Palmdale, Calif. Dennis was passionate about God, his family and friends, his country, horticulture, football and 'everything Irish'. These 89 years commemorate only a wisp of time compared to the eternity with God that he was made to enjoy (Ecclesiastes 3:11, 'He has set eternity in our hearts'). There will be a viewing at 1 p.m., and a graveside service with military honors at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, at Eternal Valley Memorial Park and Mortuary in Newhall, Calif.
