VICK, Thomas E. 88, of Lancaster, Calif., passed away November 22, 2010. He was born November 8, 1922, in Hopewell, Virginia. He married Pauline Kourian Vick on April 23, 1949, in New York City, N.Y. Thomas was an Electronics Technician of the Air Force Rocket Propulsion Laboratory employed at Edwards AFB, Calif., for 34 years. A United States Navy Air Corp veteran of World War II, Thomas served as an Electronics Technician mate in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. In his early years, Thomas joined the Boy Scouts of America, earning the Eagle Scout award in 1940. Later, he served many years as scoutmaster and district commissioner and was a prime motivator for establishing a successful National Eagle Scout Association in his district. In 1985, he was awarded the Silver Beaver, the highest honor in scouting. Thomas was an avid fisherman, and loved camping and back packing. He was a member of the Gem and Mineral Society and the Treasure Hunters Club. He loved to cook and made many a holiday feast which will always be remembered. He loved to play bridge with his friends from the senior center. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughters Karen Jechort of N. St. Paul, Mnn.; Sandra Shingleton and Pam Vick of Lancaster, Calif.; and Chris Fholer of Colorado Springs, Colo., 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and brother-in-law Art Kourian of Ohio. He is preceded in death by his wife Pauline, son Robert, his parents and grandson Ramie Vick. A Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at the Desert Vineyard Chapel, 1011 East Avenue I, Lancaster CA 93535. Interment will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at Riverside National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Halley-Olsen-Murphy, Lancaster.
