CHEBUL, William Joseph Age 68, a resident of Lancaster, Calif., died in Lancaster on November 5, 2010. Born in Butte on August 11, 1942, he was the son of John and Julia (Mufich) Chebul. He attended Sacred Heart grade school and graduated from Boys Central High School in 1960. During high school he worked at the Rocky Mountain Cafe in Meaderville. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served during the Cuban Missile crisis. After 3 years active duty he was honorably discharged and entered the naval reserve. Bill returned to Butte and attended Montana Tech. Missing California he returned to Los Angeles in 1967, and worked for the LAPD. In 1971, he went to work for the LA County Water Division where he was employed until his retirement. He was a member of Sacred Heart parish in Butte and his parish in Lancaster was also Sacred Heart. Before becoming disabled, he was an avid bowler and active in his church. Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Julia Chebul and Helen and Gelo Jackelini who raised him upon his mothers death. Bill is survived by his brother John (Sharon) Chebul and sister Barbara (Jack) Clark, all of Butte, nephews John (Kathleen) Chebul and son Alex Chebul, of Mill Creek, Wash., Chris (Kathy) Chebul and children Jacob and Krista Chebul and Jack Clark, all of Butte, niece Kim (Gordon) Criscuolo and children, Kayla, Skyler, Kara, Kassidy and Kamryn Criscuolo, of Butte. Also, several cousins survive. According to his wishes, funeral Mass and burial will be in Lancaster, Calif. Funeral Mass to be held at 10 a.m., Friday, November 19, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 45007 N. Cedar Ave, Lancaster, Calif., with burial to follow at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery, 43121 70th St. West, Lancaster, Calif. Memorials may be made to the Butte Central Foundation or Butte Food Bank. Arrangements entrusted to Halley-Olsen-Murphy Funerals & Cremations, Lancaster, Calif.
