SALAZAR, Cpl. Omar Enrique
Born July 28, 1985, in Glendale, Calif. Passed away November 5, 2010, in Joshua Tree, Calif. He grew up in Los Feliz, Calif., and Rosamond, Calif., attending school in Rosamond, Calif. He has lived in the Antelope Valley for 20 years. Omar Enrique Salazar a 25 year old corporal in the United States Marine Corps., he had just returned from Afghanistan a couple of weeks ago. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2005. He was a decorated combat veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan. During his service Omar received a Purple Heart, a Combat Action ribbon, and Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, among nine other ribbons and medals for his deployment. Omar was a remarkable person, he was a great man and a father. Omar was hilarious and made everybody laugh. Survived by his wife Kristina Salazar of 29 Palms, Calif., son Orlando Enrique Salazar, father Jorge Salazar, mother Pilar Valdes Salazar, brother Sgt. Julian Salazar USMC, grandparents Yolanda Jimenez de Valdes, Luis Gustavo Valdes, Julio Enrique Salazar, aunts, uncles and cousins. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, November 14, 2010, at Rosamond High School. Burial will be held at 1:15 p.m., Monday, November 15, 2010, at Bakersfield National Cemetery, Arvin, Calif. Arrangements entrusted to Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lancaster.
