GIESLER, Donald James Born Dec. 21, 1955, in Worland, Wyo. Passed away Oct. 24, 2010, in Virginia Beach, Va., after surviving cancer for 27 years. He spent his early years in Wyoming where he learned to love fishing. He moved to Lancaster, Calif., in 1964, and graduated from Quartz Hill HS in 1974. While in the QHHS Band, he became an award winning drum major and trumpet player and was chosen to play in the MENC National Honor Band. After graduation he began his lifelong career in the heating and air conditioning business, owning his own company "Cool Quest" for several years. Don Giesler and Debbie Newberry were married in 1980, and were blessed with three children, Sarah, Micah and Joyce. Don and Debbie were active members of Central Christian Church, especially in the Awana youth program. In 1995, Don and family moved to Virginia Beach where Don continued in heating and air conditioning until his passing. He loved the ocean and had many fishing trips with Micah. He continued working with the Awana program. In his 2000, Christmas letter, Don said, "My passion remains in seeing children and families come to know Jesus Christ as Savior through Awana". Don was a loving and devoted family man, a friend to everyone and a gardener "extraordinaire". Don was preceded in death by his sister, Dr. Jodie Giesler and infant niece Mindy Giesler. He is survived by Debbie, his loving wife of 30 years, daughters, Sarah and Joyce, son, Micah, granddaughter, Isla, and his parents, Joseph and Naomi Giesler, siblings Larry (Katarina) Giesler, Tom (Susan) Giesler, Kathy Caponi (Frank) and Mary Herbert (Marc). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held in Virginia Beach. A second service and interment will be held for California family and friends at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at Halley-Olsen-Murphy Memorial Chapel, 44802 N. Date Ave, Lancaster.
