FANT, J.E., DR.
FANT, J.E. Dr. Born December 12, 1924, in Greenville, Texas. Passed away October 24, 2010, in Lancaster, Calif. He moved to the Antelope Valley in 1954. He received his BA and Masters degree from East Texas State University, worked on his Doctorate at UCLA and USC. He was a Teacher/ Principal/Superintendent for 31 years at Hughes Elizabeth Lakes School District. Was a member, deacon, Superintendent of Sunday School, mentor and Sunday School teacher at 1st Baptist Church (Grace Chapel). In the summer of 1972, different groups from the church about 450 kids and adults all together made use of their 5 acre ranch, with hayrides, BBQs and the pool. Member and president of Phi Delta Kappa, member and president of Antelope Valley Trustees Association, Youth leader at YMCA, coached youth football and little league. He was awarded a grant from the National Defense Education Act Institute for advanced study in the field of disadvantaged youth held at Chico State, working closely with Vista and Indiana University. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific where he was wounded. He leaves his wife of 61 years Jo, sons Jerry (Carol) of Mission Viejo, David Carl (Bonny) of Florence, Ky., William (Kim) of Renton, Wash., daughter Stephanie Mauldin (Ronnie) of Rosamond, twelve grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, brother and one great-grandchild. A special gratitude and love to our Hospice nurses Patsy, Lisa, Brenda Lori and Delores. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at Grace Chapel, 44648 15th St. West, Lancaster. J.E. lived his entire life as a Servant of the Lord. This was the most treasured thing in his life. It was important to him that everyone knew about the love of Jesus.
