HALL, DONALD LEROY
HALL, Donald Leroy 92, Born Nov. 29, 1918, in Crawford, Neb. Passed away Sept. 27, 2010, in Windsor, Calif. Don enlisted in the Army Air Corps serving from 1939 to 1945, as aircraft mechanic, gunner, and crew chief. In 1948, he began his 26 year long career at NACA/NASA as an aircraft mechanic. Three of the aircraft that he worked on, the D-558-2, the X-15, and the F-104, are now on display at the National Air and Space Museum. Don and his family resided in Littlerock until his retirement from NASA in 1974. He had a unique sense of humor and imagination. Don is survived by his wife of 50 years Patricia, his adopted son Timothy, daughter Carolyn (David), son Andrew, son Michael (Tara), daughter Mary (Paul), son Daniel (Greta), and 11 grandchildren. He also leaves his devoted companion and guardian, his dog, Sharkey. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, Palmdale. All that knew him or his family are welcome. 'Dad was a good man. As honest as the day is long and respected by many. His time with us was short, but all are better for knowing him. He is loved by his family and his legacy will live on.'
