Age 79. Mike O'Connor was a proud Irishman. Dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, he was loved by many and will be missed by all. Mike died on September 3, 2010, in the comfort of his home with family by his side. Mike was born on September 30, 1930, in Wickenburg, Arizona. He spent most of his youth in Northern California and obtained a Bachelors degree in economics from the University of San Francisco. Mike moved to the O'CONNOR, Michael E. Antelope Valley in 1959, to raise a family and begin a successful career in real estate. He was a real estate appraiser, California probate court referee, real estate broker and contractor. His personal interests included hunting, poetry, gardening and hosting large family gatherings. Mike is survived by his wife of 31 years, Aida, and preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Joyce. He is also survived by his 8 children and 4 step-children Rod O'Connor, Terry O'Connor, Michelle 'Micky' De Castro, Kelly O'Connor, Erin O'Connor Gillham, Jack O'Connor, Russell O'Connor, Ross O'Connor, Yvette Emard, Yvonne Blankenship, Rick Valencia, Rob Valencia and their spouses. Mike was also blessed with 23 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, September 10, 2010. A Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 11, 2010, both at Chapel of the Valley Mortuary in Palmdale, immediately followed by a burial service at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Palmdale.
