BUCKNER, Frances Ashton, 88. Frances was born March 28, 1922, in Glendale, California. She passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Gridley Health Care & Wellness Center of natural causes. She was a long time resident of Gridley having formerly lived in Berry Creek and Lancaster, California. She enjoyed creating homemade gifts for her family and friends. She was very gifted at sewing and crocheting. Frances was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gridley. Frances is survived by 4 sons: Richard Buckner of Reno, Nev., Lee Buckner of Canyon Country, Calif., Steve Buckner of Reno, Nev., and Alan Buckner of Alta Loma, Calif. She is also survived by 1 sister, Carolyn Woods of Kennewick, Wash., 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Buckner, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. A Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at Gridley- Block Funeral Chapel. A Graveside Service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 2, 2010, at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery. Pastor Galen Reames of First Presbyterian Church in Gridley will officiate at the services. Interment will be held at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery. Contributions to the First Presbyterian Church, Gridley and the Salvation Army are suggested by the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
