PERKINS, Margaret Imogene Born March 29, 1924, in Wirt, Oklahoma. Passed away Aug. 2, 2010, in Lancaster, Calif. Imogene 'Genie' moved to the Antelope Valley in 1954, and worked at AV Hospital for 10 years before going to Community Hospital where she worked until retiring in 1984. Genie loved traveling with her husband of many years. Tom and Genie enjoyed trips to different states as well as Texas to visit family and friends. Mom loved Country music and a good joke to put a smile on your face. She had a kind and helping heart. She always said 'You need a sense of humor to get thru life'. Mom retired and moved back to Texas in 1984, where she became active at the Senior Center helping with the meals on wheels program, earning volunteer of the year one year for her help. Mom moved back to California in 2004, to be closer to family after the death of her husband Tom. Always willing to help out family and friends if they needed it. She was a true Angel on earth. She will be dearly missed by all of those close to her. Survived by her son Rusty (Jacque) Speidel of Lancaster, daughter Gail (Chuck) Bunch of Lancaster, grandchildren Paul Humphreys (Carol), Derek Speidel, Brian Shaum (Annie), Andrew Shaum (Stefanie), Coreen Knox, great- grandchildren; Jamie, Tyler, Caden, McKenzie, Nathan and Elizabeth. Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 12, 2010, at Halley-Olsen-Murphy, Lancaster.
