BOSTAIN, Letitia Barbara Letitia (Tish) was born and raised near St. Louis, Missouri. She joined the Navy and was stationed in Washington, D.C., in the photo lab where she met her husband, John, a photographer. When World War II ended they married, and in the late 1940s, moved to Hollywood where they had a portrait studio. In 1957, John started working for NASA, and they moved to the Antelope Valley. Letitia was active in the community as a volunteer for Special Olympics bowlers, a member of the Lancaster Womans Club, and belonged to the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Lancaster. She became a member of Poppy Reserve/Mojave Desert Interpretive Association (PR/MDIA) where she made drawings of local wildflowers that were transferred to T-shirts and sweatshirts, as well as poppy drawing on note cards. Letitia served on the PR/MDIA board for 15 years and served as treasurer for 9 years. She has generously signed over the copyright for the artwork on the shirts as 'Mojave Desert Magic' to PR/MDIA to use. She leaves a daughter, Barbara (Chris) Avison in Littlerock, California, a granddaughter, Julia Avison, in Rapid City, South Dakota, and a grandson, Thomas Avison, in Tucson, Arizona. She is preceded in death by her husband John Bostain, her son John Bostain, III, and grandson, Scott Ryan Avison. Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Halley-Olsen-Murphy Mortuary in Lancaster, Calif.
