BUCKNER, Ollie Lee 'Bucky' Had her final dance on April 6, 2010. She peacefully passed in the company and care of her daughter, Dene Shaver in Rancho Mirage, Calif., on a pleasant and sunny afternoon. Bucky shared a love for life, conversation, dance and the company of family and friends. She always had a spring in her step and a smile on her face. She never met a stranger and always took the time to make a new friend. Bucky was admired for her youthful energy, friendly charm and ability to make people smile. She was born in Quail, Texas on February 7, 1918, to Robert E. Lee and Ada Scroggins where she grew up on a farm with 5 brothers and 4 sisters. She always said that her birth ended the Great War. Bucky moved to Lancaster, California from Las Vegas, Nev., in 1954. She worked as a nurse's aide at Lancaster Community Hospital from 1964, until retirement where she enjoyed providing care and comfort to her many patients. Bucky is survived by her sister, Bessie Gertrude Porter of Simi Valley, Calif.; brother, Weldon Scroggins of Pottsboro, Texas; daughter, Dene Shaver (Philip) of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; son, Gary Buckner (Judy) of Dallas, Texas; 9 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Burl in 1971. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 23, 2010, at New Hope Church, 405 East Ave. J, Lancaster, followed by a burial service at Joshua Memorial Park. Her presence in the many lives she has touched will be greatly missed.
