HAWKE, Betty Randleman Betty Jean Randleman was born June 15, 1922, in Phoenix, Ariz., to Dale and Eula Randleman. After spending her early childhood years in Ojai, Calif., and Ventura, Calif., the family moved to Rosamond and Betty attended grammar school, AVHS and AVJC. She married Jack E. Hawke, also an AVJC graduate and son of Herbert and Tillie Hawke of Lancaster, in 1942, at Luke Field AFB in Phoenix. They moved to various military bases while he served in the USAF during World War II. After his military service they moved to Van Nuys, Calif., where Jack was employed in the aerospace industry at Marquardt Aircraft Co. They began a family with Jacklynn Ann born in 1945, and Randle Bert born in 1953. In 1973, they began a second career as owners of the Coast-to-Coast hardware store in Patterson, Calif. Upon retirement in 1986, they moved to Bay Point, Calif., and traveled the United States in their motorhome and to parts of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii and Alaska. Jack passed away in November, 1990. Betty continued to live in Bay Point and traveled to many countries, Norway, Iceland, Peru, China, Japan, Egypt, India, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Canada, Greece, Russia, Hungary, always enjoying new places and new friends. After a stroke in August 2009, Betty moved to Sparks, Nev., to be close to her family. She passed on April 3, 2010, after a month of painful vertebrae fractures. She was preceded in death by her parents Dale and Eula, her two brothers Jack Randleman (Pat) and Don Randleman (Winnie). She is survived by her daughter Jacklynn Hawke Meadows (Tom), her son Randle Bert Hawke (Linda), two sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews in California and Arizona. Her ashes will be scattered privately by her family.
