SMITH, Clarence Donald
Born July 24, 1928, in Kansas City, Mo. Passed away March 8, 2010. He grew up in Detroit, Mich. A veteran of the Korean War, he served as an Artillery Forward Observer and Battery Executive Officer. Later, Lt. Smith joined the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C. His awards include the Purple Heart. He attended City College of New York and New York University. He was the first African American hired in management at Crocker Citizens National Bank, La. Started a second career at Pacific Bell. Retired in 1991, to join his wife, Barbara in publishing High Desert Gold Business Directory. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, children Estrellita Bullock (Gerald, Jr.), Dr. Pamela Smith, Clarence Smith, Jr., Dr. Donna Smith and Roger Smith, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Inglewood Park Cemetery, Grace Chapel 720 E. Florence Ave., Inglewood Calif.
